I have to be honest and say that Barrow would not be my first choice for staying in Cumbria. There are far more attractive places. However, if you are looking for a place that can offer diverse amusements, then Barrow is a good choice. It is an industrial, hard-working town with a busy dockyard and, surprisingly, I found that quite interesting. Morecambe Bay is a huge area of dunes and well worth a visit. There is lots of shopping available, I particularly liked Hollywood Park - with lots of shops and restaurants and a huge cinema! I enjoyed our stay there, but would probably opt for staying more central to the Lake District on any other trips.
