Built by the Monk family on the site of an earlier house, this Jacobean manor was embellished by the Victorian hymn writer Sabine Baring Gould. The granite mullion windows with 19th century stained glass and high ceilings with decorative plasterwork are set off by rich oak panelling. All rooms are of normal size and in good condition. They have en-suite bathrooms with the full facilities that one would expect from a quality hotel, some have views of the formal and informal gardens. The nearest railway station is Exeter St Davids, 30 miles.
