I love York. It is one of the loveliest cities, not only in Yorkshire, but in all of England as far as I am concerned. The ancient minster (cathedral), The Shambles shopping district with its cobblestone and old buildings... It feels as if you are stepping back in time. I've been there several times of the year and with each season there is such beauty in the city. I love the ancient city wall and the little streets and alleys that are so numerous. I also found the signage throughout the city easy to follow and parking areas are plentiful. Excellent dining for every cuisine and purse is available throughout the city centre. York is one of the cities in England that I will find every excuse to visit. A holiday in northern England would not be complete without a visit to York. The only negative I can possibly see would be that The Shambles would prove quite difficult for someone who has mobility issues, making the area less than ideal for disability access.
